Sailing Wind Therapy

Приєднався 25 жов 2019
We’re Jeff and Adrienne. We both grew up sailing, but took 20 years off while married to our exes. When we got together in 2007, we remembered how much we loved sailing. So, we took a week-long sailing class in 2013, bought a Leopard 48 sailing cat, and never looked back (except for when Hurricane Irma destroyed her but we immediately purchased a new Leopard 45).
In Spring 2021, our plan is to leave our marina in St. Petersburg, FL, and begin making our way to the Bahamas, then to New England, and then south, arriving in Grenada sometime in June 2022. Maybe, in May 2023, we’ll make our way across the Atlantic Ocean and spend some time in the Mediterranean. And then go around the world. We’ll figure it out. And hopefully, you’ll join us along the way.
Thanks for watching our videos. We hope you like them.

Partying for the Last Time in St. Martin on our Leopard 45 Sailing Catamaran. E104
In this episode of Sailing Wind Therapy, we sent our Victron Quatro Inverter out for repairs, dined at a floating restaurant in Grand Case, had a blast attempting drunk yoga on the schooner, Spirit of St. Martin, and we bid farewell to the Caribbean as we sailed our Leopard 45 catamaran out of the Simpson Bay Lagoon for the last time.
It was a sad day, but we needed to begin our trek north for the summer. Maine lobsters were calling!

The Search for Water on our Leopard 45 Sailing Catamaran. E103

In this episode, we left Dominica to sailing our Leopard 45 north. Our first stop was Guadeloupe where we were meeting friends. We've had some problems with our Victron Quatro Inverter on and off for the past few months, and it finally died. That means that we cannot use anything electrical that plugs into the wall outlets, among other things, like our water maker. And since we only had about 4...

Dominica is, well, breathtakingly beautiful. And right now, it's not spoiled, overridden with tourists, or too commercial. But that won't last. As word gets out about the insane landscape and the opportunity for adventure, it won't be long before you'll have to wait in line to swim up Titou Gorge, hike to Boiling Lake, or jump into one of the 365 rivers. We've been in Dominica on our Leopard 45...

Dominica is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. We are so happy we sailed our Leopard 45 catamaran there! It's unspoiled, for now. So visit while you can. In this episode, we continue our exploration of this amazing island. We meet up with Omar, our tour guide turned dear friend. He took us to Syndicate Falls, another win for Jeff. We loved visiting his friends' farm, where thes...

In this episode, we have a salty sail from Martinique to Dominica on board our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. The lack of development on the island has kept it pristine, rugged, and beautiful. We had an amazing day filled with adventure. From hiking the stairway to heaven around Freshwater Lake, swimming to the bottom of a waterfall in Titou Gorge, (they filmed a scene from one of the Pirates of...

In this episode, we explore lots of cool stuff to do in Martinique. It's a very well developed island, modern, clean, full of history. We hiked from Petite Anse d'arlet to Anse d'arlet, tried to troubleshoot a problem with our inverter, explored the ruins from the deadly explosion of the Mount Pele volcano, and tried to figure out what the heck is clogging our holding tank. (It's a gross job, b...
Diving In the Grenadines. E95

It's very helpful to be able to comfortably SCUBA dive when you live on a boat. Cleaning the bottom is easier, diving your anchor in deep water is easier, and diving is also just fun. We use our awesome Blu3 Nomad which is a floating lithium charged air compressor with a 30 foot hose. But, Adrienne had a traumatic experience when she was a teenager that has prevented her from enjoying SCUBA div...
Avoiding the Reefs While Sailing the Grenadines on Our Leopard 45 Catamaran. E94

We finally left Grenada and made our way to the Grenadines!!! In this episode, we sailed our Leopard 45 catamaran to Sandy Island, Carriacou. Then we left and headed toward the Sandy Lane Marina Resort on Canouan to pump out our clogged holding tank and enjoy a few days at the pool. The sail there was great. We hand-steered our way through the reefs of the Tobago Cays. Jeff did a great job by n...

After splashing Wind Therapy in Grenada our engine broke! A Broken valve spring causes all sorts of havoc. We are able to change the oil and do basic troubleshooting but rebuilding the the head is something we give to the professionals to do. So while waiting on that we rented a car and did a waterfall tour of Grenada. It was magnificent although driving was pretty challenging. Then we flew to ...

We finally made it back to Grenada after leaving Wind Therapy on the hard at Clark's Court Marina for 5 1/2 months. It was a great summer, and now it's time to get to work putting the boat back together so we can begin heading north. Everything was in good order when we returned. No bad smells, no bugs, no mold, just lots of wrinkled clothes! Join us as we figure this whole thing out. #sailingw...

This is the final episode of our LeBoat trip down the Thames River. We had such an amazing time visiting pubs, old churches, and even some Medieval castles along the way. We hope you followed along and enjoyed it almost as much as we did. Thanks for wa...

ROUGH Atlantic Ocean Crossing to the Caribbean on our Leopard 45 Catamaran. E75
Really enjoyed watching these... as for the guy in the last lock - well, for all of the beauty of the English rivers, we have quite a few that have chosen the way of life, often in tatty boats, and are often deemed vulnerable because of addiction - although I cannot say that this is the case here, the Thames, like so many other areas, has its fair share! Anyhoo, glad you enjoyed your visit and it does look as if you were very lucky with the weather!
We’re glad you liked the videos. We certainly had an amazing time! We actually spoke with the man from the last lock. He had just bought the boat and was trying to get it home. It was pretty ambitious. We were thinking he just needed a little practice first. 😁
@@SailingWindTherapy Wow, in that case that is pretty wild - luckily, although you have substantial boating knowledge, hirers often get typically about 30mins tuition and off they go with 10ton plus craft and do exactly the same thing! where we keep our boat, damage over recent years has become ridiculous in places! We do hope you come back - absolutely love your channel and travels - especially the silky-smooth commentary!
What are your plans that you are saying you’ll not return to SXM? 😢
We’re going to spend the summer up in New England, Sep and Oct in the Chesapeake, and then make our way south along the US east coast (plus a bit of Bahamas) back to St. Pete. Our parents are a little sick and we want to spend a year or two with them plus missing the grand babies a lot. Then we’ll head back out. Thanks for the concern! 🥰
@@SailingWindTherapy Glad all is well with you both! Total respect and understanding for you wanting to be closer to family. Thank you for your content. Be well (and happy 4th!)!
My inverter is in the same spot. How long did it take to get it back?
We got really lucky and it only took them a week. Somehow Herve convinced the victron dealer to move us up in priority because he told them we had to leave Sxm shortly. I can’t believe that worked but it did. 😊
@@SailingWindTherapy I was thinking of carrying a spare unit just in case it fails in the middle of nowhere. Pricy but they way my boat is wired, that is a very critical piece of equipment.
They have smaller units you can use as a spare for emergency too. Doesn’t do everything but enough for important b stuff. Also we could have bypassed the inverter for the water maker for example and run it directly off the generator. If a real emergency for water we could have done that (which we now know how to do quite easily) but we didn’t want to start mucking about with the inverter and then have Victron say we caused the board failure.
You folks are simply wonderful! Thank you for sharing your amazing experiences and insights. Until next time, cheers!

You can use music from CCR & ABBA without issues? Or does that mean no monetization?
Yes, most of our videos we can’t monetize because of our awesome music. Whatever we do make we donate to a children’s charity.
@@SailingWindTherapy Well….God Bless you guys!!!
i see a spike. more spikes please. 7:38
In order to become a competent and safe sailor one should probably build the boat from the ground up or water up as it were😂😂 I can see becoming quickly overwhelmed and spending $30,000 to have things labeled and route it in conduits with tracer wires and an LED panel possibly some audible alarms in case of unforeseen noisy wind and waves😅😅
The Thames from Wallingford to Marlow is my home patch and we are out on our boat most weekends. Looks like you had a great time and you knew how to handle the boat.
Thanks Michael. That’s a great part of the river. We truly had an amazing time exploring your part of the world. It took a couple of locks to get a handle on the boat but we seemed to manage it well. We’re looking forward to coming back.
Gud info,thanks
❤ Loved my time with you guys can’t wait to do it again
Your English accent sounded more like australian lol
I think she did a great job. Every time I try any accent at all, I sound Indian.

Americans are so obnoxious! J/k I love America! 😂
We flew to Antigua for our honeymoon last October and loved the entire island. We hope to get there in our own boat in a few years. Thanks for another great video!
We’re glad you liked it! Antigua is a great place to sail to. Nelson’s Dock Yard is magical. Thanks for watching!
When/If you guys get up to Maine, my wife and I would love to meet up. We are planning to start our sailing adventure in two years. We are getting excited. So much to learn. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
It’s our pleasure! We’re actually doing an overnight at this very moment up to Maine. We’re going to stop at Camden for a few days to celebrate Adrienne’s birthday and then we’re not sure which parts we’ll visit after that except for Bar Harbor for July 4th.
You’ve come at the perfect time. Summer has arrived! Not sure if you’ve been here before, but I’d recommend checking out Boothbay Harbor, as it’s close to Camden. If you head south, take in Ogunquit/Perkins Cove area. A beautiful walking town, with Marginal Way being a trail along the ocean, ending at the very small harbor with a bridge walk over the entrance.
@@markperkins5664 are you guys near Boothbay? We’re stopping there and Portland on our way south in August.
We live near the Kennebunkport, Wells/Ogunquit area. We go to Boothbay Harbor often though, as it’s one of our favorites.
We’ll let you know when we get closer to that part of Maine. Also follow us on Insta or FB in case we forget since our plans are always pretty fluid 😊. At the moment we’re 32 miles east of Portland
I can't let my wife see this video. I talked her into doing this hike over for lunch at skinny legs. It was hot, we ran out of water on the way over. When we finally got there I told her we would find a taxi. Ha Ha no such luck so we hiked back to leinster bay. I don't she will do the hike again.
Ha, we just got lucky and hitched a ride with the owner of the restaurant over there who happened to be leaving and heard us groaning about the hike back 😁
Cool walking stick, I haven't seen one in years. Looks like a fun place. Beautiful waterfalls, so much to see. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Dominica is truly a one of a kind island with such incredible beauty. We’re so blessed to have had the opportunity to experience it and we’re so happy to be able to share it with everyone!
We're always your biggest fans 😊 Kevin and Melinda ❤
Thanks guys! How’s the sail going?

And you cannot get electrocuted by the battery power!

i just left there a week ago, missed y'all

@@SailingWindTherapy St Marten, Marigo Bay and St Barts
@@brienw8800 all awesome places! Did you catch our epic St Barts party episode? That was so much fun and something as cruisers we wouldn’t ordinarily experience.

Your plans sound great. I'm looking forward to seeing it. You both always have so much great information. I enjoy your channel so much. I loved Savannah when i was there. Lots of fun. The cobble stone streets from the ballast of old ships. Thats been 45 years ago. Thank you
Thanks Robert! And it’s our pleasure to share our journey. Sounds like you’re doing a bunch of binge watching!😃
the Warthogs - cool as - as long as they are Brrrrrrrrt ing you
They were certainly practicing on us! Glad they didn’t load and fire off any actual ammo though!
That chain was really wrapped around the tree. Great work getting it untangled. I'm exhausted just watching
It was like someone purposely wrapped it and tried to make the craziest knot possible! I was totally exhausting getting it released. Thank goodness for great friends and nice French guys nearby!
You did a lot of refit and work on your boat. Sounds like you really did a great job of it. How far off shore will your wifi/ cell system work? Thanks for the show. It was interesting
Thanks, we absolutely love her. So about the WiFi/cell booster… we don’t use it at all anymore. Starlink made that system completely obsolete. We still have it in case of emergency though but it’s not even plugged in.
Hey, great , the sun was really a high light, Kind Regards Buggy

Nice shade for the solar panel too. 😂

The clarity of some of that water is amazing. And the waterfalls, just wow. Thanks guys.
They say there are 365 waterfalls on the island, one for each day.
I could eat bread all day long!!! Another great what to do when you get there video…./
Thanks guys!
Nice day trips!❤
It was so nice there!
I think our daughter ran into you on Ile Pinnel back in March. After I dropped her and a friend off I got sent away by the National Parks Guards and had to Anchor at Orient Bay. There was another Catamaran near us named wind Adventures and I thought that was the boat she ran ito. She just watched a video you made on boat guests and called me to tell me it was you. Our boat is a Leopard 48 name Gratitude (now in Grenada). So sorry I missed seeing you two. Keep up these great and fun videos!
It’s a small world when it comes to the sailing community. We actually offered the girls a ride back to your boat. We also had to move a few hours later by the way. In fact when we were moving to Orient we had to rescue a father and son whose jetski broke down and they were drifting out of the area. We towed them on their jet ski from out boat. That was kind of fun. Glad you guys made it to Grenada. We’re a half a day out from New York City and will spend this summer up in New England. Tell your daughter we said Hi!
Just noticed the Blues in the Key of Sea t-shirt! Love it!!!!!
Perfect right! A friend saw it and immediately thought of me. Good catch!
sad part is that iridum use free sattelite internet that you can fix by your self so they make money on free internet from beginning
So beautiful ❤
Dominica or Adrienne? 😁 But seriously, we agree it is such an incredibly beautiful island! Thanks for watching!
Have loved your Thames vids....the backing music has been great too. 👍
Thanks so much! We’re glad you liked them. We certainly had an amazing time on the trip.
I been there back in 2018, a few months after a hurricane hit the islands. PAYS really look out over cruisers, I felt very welcome as an out stander. Our guide also took us to the rock you jumped off, to bad when I was there the water level wasn't high enough. You guys have a new subscriber.
Okay, you convinced us. We're sailing there tomorrow and doing a tour with Alexis and maybe swimming with whales. 😃
Oh yea, we never got a chance to do the whale tour! That should also be epic!
